Revisiting Nature
Revisiting Nature was established to provide easy access to organic produce and products in the Inverell district. Priority is given to sourcing produce and products from local organic, often biodynamic growers. Remaining products are ordered from external organic wholesalers such as United Organics and Demeter Farm Mill.
The business is not designed to provide a liveable income per se but rather encourage anyone to access small quantities of quality produce and products at reasonable prices*, and enjoy the experience. Volunteers are welcomed, and are offered invoice discounts.
Ultimately the aim is to create an expanding profitable local market to entice more local organic growers to join in the fun!
* Revisiting Nature works on a 20% markup to cover running costs and wherever possible supply small quantities at bulk prices. Note that regular fruit and vegetable shops work on 80-100% markups.
The Process
The Revisiting Nature newsletter is emailed out each Thursday with a list of that week's available produce, products and prices. Orders must be sent back by Tuesday lunch time. Produce arrives and is divvied up into baskets each Thursday morning, and can then be either picked up straight from the coolroom, or delivered to an address in town for $3 per delivery. Invoices are then finalised** and emailed out.
Payments must be received within 7 days of delivery via cheque, cash or direct deposit
To recieve an obligation free Revisiting Nature newsletter, simply sign up (type your details into the left-hand column of this page). Note: you will need to confirm your subscription when the confirmation email arrives in your inbox.
**Some products ordered may no longer be available, or prices may have changed, or weights varied. If insufficient orders are recieved for bulk items, they will not be transported from external suppliers.
Other Considerations
While all care is taken to maintain the quality of produce and products in the same condition as they arrive on site, and care is taken to cull any spoilt items during divvy up, responsibility for all goods transfer to the customer directly after divvy up is completed. Fruit and vegetables are subject to natural seasonal changes and fluctuations, therefore it should be noted that quality often declines towards the end of their natural growing season. Also note that items transported from out of town often arrive on unrefrigerated trucks, so please take care when ordering perishable goods, especially during the summer months.
Prices are subject to change without notice. This is particularly so for fresh external items where prices need to be taken from price lists in advance to be able to get a price list emailed to you in a timely manner.
