Copra Meal
Coconut meal or copra meal is a byproduct of the ripe fruit (nut) of the coconut palm (Cocos
nucifera). The nut is split and the kernel is removed
and dried below 6 percent moisture. This is called copra meal and still
contains the oil. After pressing or extracting the oil the remaining
residue is called coconut meal.
High levels of copra
meal should not be suddenly included in the diet of pigs or poultry (even if
the diet is nutritionally sound). Introduce copra meal into the diet slowly
over time. This will overcome the initial reluctance by stock to eating copra
meal.
Copa meal can be used in
diets for pigs and poultry, cattle and horses of all ages except very young stock.
Mi-Feed's Nutra Cool is premium
quality assured coconut meal. With low levels of starch the feed is cool and
safe with sustained energy release without the fizz. Highly palatable Nutra Cool
is widely used across all equine disciplines, giving riders the competitive
edge.
