My
name is David Ricardo. I am a farmer from the Walgett / Collarenebri District, Northern NSW. I am sending this
message out
to a number of farmers. Many of you I know personally, and some of you second
hand via email or the net.
Over the last few weeks, I have
launched the new "FarmNet"website. Its all about having your
own webpage - your own identity on the internet - and its free. This is a useful
tool and will help your farm business grow. Its important to have your own
webpage. Without one, you are missing some great opportunities to market your
produce and services, share with friends and family, make new acquaintances, and
network with other farmers.
Your webpage could be as simple as a business
card, or it could be many pages with a full description of the crops and
livestock you produce, or services you provide. It could be your favorite links,
or pictures you wish to share, or it could be any topic that effects you, or are
passionate about. The sky is the limit and it doesn't need to be all about
farming. It could be your favorite sports stories, recipes, or even gardening
tips - whatever interests you.
Above all, its about
lifting the profile of farmers and rural communities across Australia.
I
started FarmNet ten years ago providing services to farmers and the farm
machinery sector. I lost the focus on machinery a few years ago but always
dwelled on the importance of farmers having their own websites. The expertise
needed to build a website simply hasn't been available to isolated communities
until now. This new concept is set to change the way farmers use the internet -
the way we communicate and how we do business.
I invite you
to visit http://farmnet.com.au and make a
start growing your online presence . You don't need any special skills. If you
have ever typed and sent an email, then you can easily setup your own webpage in
a few minutes. But grab a cuppa and spend 30 minutes. Setup an account. Pick one
of ninety templates. Choose a picture, add some text and you will be well on
your way to having your own interactive website. Of course, this means nothing
if your page can't be found. All pages within the FarmNet site are indexed by
the major search engines daily.
This is a free service to
farmers and rural communities. City folks only need apply if they are interested
in agriculture, or have ever depended on a farmer to live. I am offering the
free website service with 10 megabytes of storage - enough for about 100
screensize pictures. More storage is available at cost. Start your new webpage
during February and receive $100 credit for classified advertising at
Farmnet.
Farming is a tough business and we
need to use every tool available to us. FarmNet's focus is on helping farmers
and all associated with agriculture to improve their online presence leading to
higher productivity and better communication.
If you find
this is a useful site, pass it on to other farmers, family, and
friends.
