This is from an email sent through to me. Its contents have been verified (though there is some mention of this incident on the web), but it does concur with conversations with friends living in Brisbane who know the problem has occurred in a number of other sites around Brisbane.

Dear Friends

I had my tap water tested in May this year. It tested 1.1ppm for fluoride. I had my tap water tested again last week and it tested 2.1 ppm for fluoride. 

I live at Runaway Bay. Please see the information attached to see how intolerably serious this amount of fluoride is in our water. (Please note declassifed info states that fluoride causes thyroid damage at .001 - .003ppm) Tell everyone to stop drinking and cooking in the tap water and no tap water should be given to babies and children. If you don't have a reverse osmosis filter or other filter you are confident takes out the fluoride (the only way to really know is to have it tested) then, bottled water is an alternative short term measure. I have had Coles spring water tested and it has less than .2ppm fluoride which is about as good as we can get, it seems. I am living on bottled water and cooking in it as well. Very expensive way to have my basic human right of clean water to drink (without the RAT poison). This fact of 2.1 ppm fluoride in the tap water is outrageous!!! I phoned Channel 9 news today who said they'd call me back regarding an interview tomorrow - they have not contacted me as yet. You must warn everyone that they must find an alternative source of water for drinking and cooking or they will be doing themselves irreparable harm.
