While the world appears to be headed towards some form of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction scheme, how we get there appears less certain. The struggle centers around who actually has to make the cuts. Hardly a sector of the economy is not affected, and if it's related to fossil fuels, it's going to hurt. So where does agriculture fit into all of this?

The forum gave the stage to a scientist, soil carbon campaigner and even an owner of a major brown coal company who argued the mineral's case for countering carbon and weaning Australia off its Arab oil addiction.

This is from an email sent through to me. Its contents have been verified (though there is some mention of this incident on the web), but it does concur with conversations with friends living in Brisbane who know the problem has occurred in a number of other sites around Brisbane.

Dear Friends

I had my tap water tested in May this year. It tested 1.1ppm for fluoride. I had my tap water tested again last week and it tested 2.1 ppm for fluoride.
